Check out this video from the vault from an event we ran in July 2020.

Here is the original synopsis:

About this event

Some teams aspire to be built from entirely top talent, whereas others prefer a balance between good and great. Attracting, cultivating and retaining top tech talent is what drives many decisions within a strategy but what does ‘top tech talent’ actually mean? What really separates the good developers from the bad... and the best? What common traits have you seen across your most talented and what traits do you avoid at all costs. In which ways should we be encouraging junior developers to grow to create a higher concentration of good/great developers in the future?

Perhaps more interestingly is how your perception of top talent differs from other technical leaders? During this event we will be exploring the similarities and differences in how various members of the London CTOs assess and think about tech talent.

During this event we will speak to people that have worked with enough people to have developed opinions on these matters and are looking to share their experiences.

Who should sign up: • Experienced CTOs with opinions on what good, bad and great tech talent looks like • CTOs who have recently started, or are about to start a company with plans to scale and are keen to learn • Aspiring CTOs who are eager to hear about future challenges

How it will run: The roundtable will begin with pre-requested questions which will be asked by our host, Barry Cranford. Anyone that has experience on the matter is welcome to share their experience and lessons they have learned along the way. Others are free to jump in with questions to create a lively discussion. It will run from 12:30 until at least 13:00 then progress to a breakout room session.

This is a London CTOs event in association with CTO Craft. This is our twelfth virtual roundtable over recent weeks, previous events have covered topics such as dealing with a crisis, finding your next role, remote tools and transitioning from the tech team to the leadership team. (Videos available on request).
